Another Attempt

Oh my gosh! It's 2006! And this is my first post. Well, I had good intentions back in September.

Let's see, to update... I'm on the homestretch of my Master's program. I have my spring semester class to finish (which is going great; it's on Catholic Social Thought-- although there's way too much homework and accountability required...), my "stranded" Sat. class (only 3 more of those to go), then ONE summer class (on sacraments, I think). Livin' for July 20!

Work is... good. Weird stuff going on, as usual, I guess. Lately, everyone's been carbon-copying every email they send to our Parish Administrator. It's the "professional" version of "I'm telling". A little tiring.

Personally, I've been working on honing my assertiveness skills. Come on, don't laugh. I have a hard time with confrontations, just like anyone else. So, I've been forcing myself to deal with a few of the easier ones in my life. I know I have to tackle a couple of tought ones in the coming months too. In analyzing what makes some "tougher" than others, I've decided that stupid people are harder to confront. I'm not as worried about having a "discussion" or even argument with an intelligent person who would actually listen and entertain the notion that the other person has a point to make. It's the stupid people who are closed off to thinking and considering other ideas that I hate to deal with and, yes, confront. Hard to come out of those with a satisfactory solution to the issue you go in with. Usually end up ending a relationship, however tenuous it was in the first place.

Whew. Enough for now. Go read something worthwhile, like Matt's blog.

  • I thought that was pretty funny at first - honing your assertiveness... But it makes sense too. I totally agree - dealing with people who are stupid is much tougher. Not only do they not listen to you, usually they think you're not listening to them - even if what you're saying is completely responsive to their points. That really aggravates me.

And oh yeah, everyone should read my blog.

  • It's because I post good stuff, and you just post stuff about how you're not planning a wedding yet but kind of are.
